In our series of Employee Spotlights, you get to meet our brilliant Unifii team members! This month we travel all the way to India to meet Vicky, who has been in the Unifii family for over a year - read below to hear about his journey!
Meet Vicky Tilwani:
Hi, I’m Vicky and I work as a Principal Consultant at Unifii’s India office. I’ve been with the company for just more than a year now, joining back in September 2020. I’ve been working with ServiceNow for nearly 6 years though, switching between various job hats – mainly I've worked in developer, project lead and business analyst roles.
How did you become interested in the industry and how did you stumble upon Unifii?
Ever since college, I’ve been intrigued by the creation of web and mobile applications. Prior to working at professional firms, I would help universities and small-scale businesses benefit from some of my solutions – you can imagine how motivating this was given I’d not actually started my professional career.
I came across ServiceNow when I was looking for a change in the IT space. Once I started understanding the power of the platform and the positive impact it can have on major enterprises, I knew it was going to be a long run for me in the cloud space.
Having worked for a few years with ServiceNow and further exploring its extensive capabilities, I was offered a consultant role by Unifii. I strongly believed that the company and the role would suit my interests well, and I wasn’t wrong!
What do you enjoy the most about working at Unifii?
The flexibility to work remotely and the work timing is what I appreciate the most. Being based out of India, it gives me a couple of hours every morning to get on top of things before our counterparts arrive.
The fact that the people are approachable and always willing to help each other makes the job effortless and genuinely enjoyable. The company roots to maintain the small team culture, transparency and good work ethic, and this is something we all massively appreciate.
What has been the most exciting project you have worked on in your time here?
Every project has a different role for me to contribute with, and I’d say this is the most exciting aspect for me.
If I had to choose, I’d pick projects where Unifii as a team helped major customers adapt to the ITBM solution across their enterprise. These implementations not only enabled the customers to move away from the legacy ways of tracking projects, but largely standardised the ways in which project management took place thereafter.
Did your working life change much as a result of COVID-19?
I joined Unifii when Covid-19 was on the rise, and I’ll admit that I was nervous as the new remote way of working was new for the company as well as for us all individually. Nevertheless, this gave me an opportunity to connect and with different people around the globe, since our offices and customers are based out of various locations. I appreciate how the people at Unifii encouraged video calling, as it helped with filling the void of not being able to meet in person for months!
One thing that has worked out massively in my favour (a blessing in disguise) is the opportunity to travel and work together. Since the pandemic began I’ve had the chance to visit remote locations in India that provide workcation facilities, so that’s been very fun.
How do you see yourself growing in the next few years?
Unifii provides a fantastic platform to learn from my colleagues from all cadres and execute our skills to help consistently help customers. I look forward to continuing this trajectory and ensuring that my personal life balances out well amidst new challenges.
I’m also very excited to help the organisation grow in India by providing my expertise and learning throughout the process – watch this space!
What do you do in your spare time?
Music is a big thing for me – I play the guitar and love to explore the various genres of rock music during my free time.
As a travel enthusiast, I try to seize any opportunity to keep moving and connect with like minded travellers around the world, learning about their cultures and discovering new places of common interest. I truly believe that the core of man's spirit comes from experiencing new people and places, and so this is something I try to prioritise.
